National Bike Summit

A collective voice on Capitol Hill

Bikes Belong is the title sponsor of the National Bike Summit, an annual lobbying effort organized by the League of American Bicyclists. Each year during the summit, more than 400 bicycle suppliers, retailers, and advocates converge on Capitol Hill to push for bicycle friendly legislation.

Bikes Belong sponsors this event because we believe bicycle advocates and industry leaders must speak directly with federal lawmakers to demonstrate the strength of the bicycling lobby. Participants:

• Learn how our industry helps maximize federal bike funding
• Contribute to the national strategy for bicycling
• Reinforce the bicycling agenda with Congress
• Represent business interests with federal lawmakers

In addition to a full day of lobbying, the event also features informative seminars and networking. It is an excellent opportunity to meet fellow bicycle advocates and participate in the legislative process.

The 2009 summit drew a record 580 participants, who met with 350 members of Congress or their staffs.

The next summit will take place in March 9-11, 2010, in Washington, D.C.
